JOB ADVERT- SENIOR OPERATIONS OFFICER - 1 POST

 

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

 

DSM Corridor Group Ltd is seeking to recruit a Senior Operations Officer to join Operations Department - Dar es salaam Office. The position will report to Terminal Manager – Bulk Terminal.

 

The Candidate Duties and responsibilities (includes but not limited to):

 

1. Organize the work for the day and ensure employees understand their duties and tasks.

2. Set performance and production targets for individual employees/employee groups for the shift. Assign work for the employees/employee groups for the shift.

3. Ensure DCG’s equipment in the terminal assigned to are maintained as agreed and are always functional.

4. Organize and manage Labour

5. Inspect the work of the employees continuously during the shift, guide and coach them to ensure defect free service delivery.

6. Evaluate staff performance together with Junior Operations Officer.

7. Ensure operational deadlines are met.

8. Plan the storage of cargo in a safe and efficient manner, supervise the same and update warehouse plans etc.

9. Approve all operational documents and submit to the logistics officer for recording.

10. Report to Terminal Manager during and after the work shift on the issues arising.

11. Report any outside the norm issues to Terminal Manager immediately when they arise.

12. Contribute to development of operational policies, communicate them to relevant staff and ensure efficient implementation.

13. Assist the terminal Manager to ensure IMS (ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018) is implemented actively: SOP’s, process flows and related documents are up to date and adhered to by the staff.

14. Any other reasonable duties assigned by a superior.

 

REQUIREMENTS FOR A SENIOR OPERATIONS OFFICER:

1. Candidate must minimally hold a Bachelor Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business administration, or any other related field.

2. Proven track record in managing Logistics and distribution operations at a supervisory or Senior Level.

3. Experience in managing teams and working with diverse stakeholder in the logistics and supply chain sector.

4. Knowledge of local Tanzanian regulations regarding import/export, customs clearance and transportation logistics is essential.

5. Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to oversee and optimize operations.

6. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

7. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced deadline driven environment.

8. Attention to detail and organizational skills.

9. Past experience of working in logistics Industry.

10. Any experience of working with DCG will be an added advantage.
